My name is Kat and I’m a 22 year old Third Culture Kid, currently living in the UK, with my boyfriend, who himself is a talented musician, and our cat, Princess Pussypants. I have always had a passion for art and all things creative, and I’m now in my final year studying Art and Design. In the past I ran a small business selling my handmade polymer clay jewellery, and although that has been on hiatus since I’ve moved to the UK, I’m hoping to get it going again and expanding into creating merchandise and prints featuring my illustrations.
I am currently transitioning to living a more compassionate life. I enjoy cooking and baking, and I often create my own flavourful, plant-based and nutritiously rich recipes, inspired by different cuisines and traditional recipes. As I love pampering myself, but can’t afford all the delicious Lush products, I recently started experimenting with DIY beauty products, which are also all plant-based. Being a make-up fiend, I am also always on the look-out for good quality, cruelty free products.
Besides creating art and chomping on broccoli, I have several other interests. I’m a part-time bookworm, as I do love getting sucked into a good book, however I usually go through phases of reading and not reading. My favourites include The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, Things You Should Know by A.M. Homes and Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham. Musically, I have a very wide taste, as I love all things Punk and Metal, but also enjoy different kinds of Electronic music, as well as some Jazzy or Indie tunes. Some of my all time favourite musicians include The Distillers, Gallows, Descendents, Lamb of God, Deftones, Bonobo and Soulwax. In my spare time I also game a little, emerging myself into the fantasy world of World of Warcraft.
So, to sum it all up, I have a wide range of interests, and The Cat and Blanket is my way of giving my readers a glimpse of what I do and sharing my ideas. I will be posting recipes and DIY tutorials, reviews of different products, as well as general ramblings and observations. And if any of you are wondering where the name for my blog came from, it’s simply because I feel the most comfortable being curled up in a blanket with my cat, and most of my blog posts will probably be made during those downtimes! So I invite you to curl up with your cat and blanket, get a cup of tea and have a read!
